A small golden-sand beach, about 120 m long, set among cliffs and rock formations that create little coves and nooks, west of Albufeira in the Sesmarias area. Its name comes from a rock formation at the eastern end that resembles castle battlements. Pine woods dominate the cliff tops, where salt-tolerant plants grow and falcons and cormorants nest. Walks along the top reveal sinkholes and caves, but keep a safe distance from the edge.
