About the beach
A pebble beach south of Arrifana, looking out to the Pedra da Agulha sea stack, at the mouth of a valley cut by a stream that only flows in the rainy season. By the sea the valley opens out and is very exposed to the wind, with low juniper scrub shaped by the northerlies. In rough seas the pebbles roll with a deep rumble. It draws surfers and sea anglers but remains a quiet beach. It is not an official bathing water: the water is not tested and there is no lifeguard.
