About the beach

The closest beach to the city of Gaia, in Canidelo, is lined by a seafront avenue and marked by outcrops of Lavadores granite, coarse-grained with pinkish feldspar crystals, interspersed with sand. It is popular for surfing and bodyboarding and has lifeguards, sunshade hire, parking, a bar and a restaurant. In September 2025 a safety perimeter was set up next to the coastal protection wall, which had been destabilised by the swell.
