About the beach
Small beach of fine sand with some pebbles in Povoação town, on São Miguel's south coast, west of Praia do Morro. According to the official profile the sand is not permanent: being so short, it can disappear entirely at spring tides. There are changing rooms and parking, and it flew the Blue Flag in 2020 and 2021. The 2026 Portaria lists it as a lifeguarded bathing beach from 15 June to 15 September. It is very exposed to the sea. Water quality was rated Good in 2025.
