About the beach

Natural pools among rock formations in the parish of Maia, on São Miguel's north coast, next to a long, easily reached stretch of sand. The bathing area is open sea, with a bottom of basalt slab, cobbles, pebbles and sand, and high exposure. At low tide the rock formations are exposed. It has showers, a bar, lifeguard cover and a picnic area.
