About the beach
A beach of almost 1 km in the Areias de São João area, with low, jagged cliffs. The western section is built-up, with cafés and hotels; to the east, past the Pedra dos Bicos rock formation, the sand becomes quieter and is backed by stone pines. It has restaurants, toilets, beach services and lifeguards in the bathing season; Oura Poente is a designated accessible beach.
