About Praia da Luz
Praia da Luz is the beach of the village of the same name, a few kilometres west of Lagos. The sandy stretch is medium-sized, framed by dark basalt rock cliffs that contrast with the pale sand — a visual composition unlike most Algarve beaches.
The village of Luz has a human scale, with shops and restaurants within easy reach of the beach. Rocha Negra — a prominent rock formation at one end of the beach — is one of the most recognisable landmarks on the entire Lagos coast.
