About the beach

The only sandy beach on Graciosa, the beach in the town of São Mateus, known simply as 'Praia', has around 200 metres of sand beside a quay. Bathing is in the open sea, over a sandy bottom with high exposure to the swell. It has lifeguard cover and open-air parking, and was awarded a Blue Flag in 2025.
